At times, I feel surrounded by people with struggling egos – egos struggling to exist in a spirit that wants freedom from it. Then I wonder; is this perception just a reflection of my own struggles? The answer, of course, is a resounding maybe. I know that releasing the hold that ego has on me in the form of recognition and respect (the desire to be admired)… releasing that grip has been a long and potholed road. Yet, still, he raises his little head into these reflections brought by other people’s struggles.
These people are hungry, as all of us have been: hungry for the self to be seen and to be admired for its’ worth. Truly, this hunger is borne in the children in us, reaching for comfort, for nurturing, and for acknowledgement of their timeless travels getting through the ethereal to this life. This is valid, perhaps even noble, but we must not let these needs rule our existence here.
May we learn this one thing: to release this hold, this grip, that ego has on the self, is to release life to evolution, to release us forward into the next growth of the human spirit and form.
If we could learn only that one truth,
enlightenment would raise its standard
and we would be in the midst of the growing light,
admiring, and being admired for,
the beauty and worth inherent in all.
